About

Hello, and welcome to my table!  I’m happy you stopped by – there’s always room for one more. I hope you linger for awhile, because I saved the best for last! 😉

I do not like writing about myself but as is the custom, here goes.

A few words about me first:

I am a web designer/developer by trade, a business graduate by diploma, and a blogger by passion. I live in the sunny San Francisco bay area with my husband and two beautiful daughters.
I grew up in Bulgaria – a faraway place where we ate tomatoes and peppers for breakfast, we drank plain yogurt with water at dinner, and we took hours to prepare our meals because everything was made from scratch (even the condiments).  I consider myself lucky to have grown in a country where seasonality was part of the culinary tradition, where we had real, honest food, and knew how to appreciate it.

A few words about the blog:

It was born naturally.  It just happens that the food blog as a concept combines all the things I love doing – web design, recipe creation, photography, styling.  I just wonder why it took so long for this idea to crystallize.   I don’t know what I like most about this whole process – the cooking, the eating, the photo shooting, or the food styling.  I think my least favorite has to be the writing.  Oh well, I hope the food and the pictures will tell their own story.  After all, a picture is worth a thousand words, right?

Plus, I found the perfect excuse to spend more time in the kitchen, messing with food, and cooking more nontraditional, unconventional, bizarre concoctions.  The blog is also my secret carte blanche to buy some unusual kitchen gadgets 😉

I really get inspired by food – not just the eating part, but stylistically too.  I often buy ingredients because they are really pretty to look at but overall, the creative process of combining flavors into a coherent and great tasting meal is even more appealing to me.  I like to cook vegetables (mostly) although I am not vegetarian.  I like tappa style eating so you will find a lot of small bites and appetizers here too.  My cooking is a fusion of Middle Eastern/ Mediterranean flavors, with a touch of French influence, and a sprinkle of exotic cuisines here and there.  I love creating recipes with ingredients that excite me and you will find my latest creations, as well as some traditional, and tried-and-true recipes here.

I feel I can bring something to the table,  and share with you, so stick around and find out what I’ve been cooking.  I believe that with passion and love (and an extra pinch of salt), you can create wonders in the kitchen.  So with an open heart and a hungry soul, I embark on this journey and I hope you like the ride too.
